I wrote a love note to Terrace House: Boys & Girls in the City a few months back. And now I’ll do the same for Terrace House: Aloha State, as part 2 just dropped this week.
If you need a reality show palate cleanser or one just for life in general, Terrace House is such a lovely choice. I will re-emphasize that it’s incredibly relaxing, pleasant, and an enjoyable world to get lost in for a short time. The first series was set in Japan, but Aloha State is (obviously) set in Hawaii. So, it’s very interesting how conversations frequently slip into English, given that most of the housemates are half American. Others are from Japan originally and came to better their English skills or fall in love (a grand dream).
The panel from the first series is still there – and as hilarious as ever. I’m super in love with Taishi, who I will dub as Hansan 2.0 (no one will ever compare to Hansan, but Taishi is adorable and has some sage advice for younger members often). I’m all caught up again and can’t wait for the next part to drop. Eight episodes at a time just aren’t enough!
